Laurie — the chef who cooks the sun

Laurie will be our chef throughout the stay, except for Friday lunch, when Jérôme will come and introduce us to his culinary world! Please, meet Laurie :

My name is Laurie, and ever since I was little, cooking has always been a passion of mine. Growing up in a rural area, I was immersed in traditional, simple cuisine—the kind my grandmother used to make—with vegetables from the garden, chickens she brought in, preserves… As an adult, my travels and encounters with different people shaped my culinary inspirations, which became increasingly vibrant, southern, and plant-based (but not exclusively!).

I am committed to working with high-quality, local products, respecting the seasons, and sourcing from short supply chains whenever possible.

While I still take great pleasure in cooking delicious dishes from the Southwest and

continuing the family tradition, I like to distinguish myself through this rich, warm, and always delicious Mediterranean cuisine!

🌿I will have the honor of delighting your taste buds throughout your stay with a cuisine full of life, warmth, and love.

The accommodation

We offer on-site accommodation in charming cottages in Issor (64). The first one is called "Castagné". Nestled in Béarn, Castagné combines the charm of a large traditional farmhouse with the contemporary comfort of a boutique lodge.

You will have a choice of five private rooms: three have their own en-suite bathroom, while two rooms share a bathroom. The vast living spaces—a lounge with a piano, a bright dining room, and a terrace opening onto the garden—will become the warm setting for your language workshops. When the weather is fine, the large, tree-filled garden can also serve as an inspiring classroom, where you study to the murmur of the neighboring stream. Between lessons, you can enjoy the relaxation areas, a drink on the balcony, a nap in the shade, or a chic evening apéritif. Here, learning French blends with the art of living: elegant, immersive, and deeply rejuvenating.According to the number of students enrolling, we will open other gites around, all with private bedrooms.

Optional activities

Discover our optional activities to enrich your training experience. Some activities are included, and others are offered at an additional cost, providing unique opportunities for learning and development.

Yoga Béarn.avif

Anna

Yoga Teacher and Wellness Therapist

Hello! My name is Anna, and I am a yoga teacher and wellness therapist. For several years, I have been guiding people from all walks of life to regain balance, vitality, and serenity through breath, movement, and a kind presence to oneself. I am trained in therapeutic yoga, trauma-informed somatic coaching, and pranayama (breath work). I love connecting modern science with the wisdom of traditional yoga: understanding how our breath, postures, and emotions interact, and how all of this can help us feel better—gently, without seeking performance. My approach is simple: everyone comes as they are. I believe that yoga is first and foremost a space for listening to oneself, relaxing, and reconnecting with oneself. What I will offer you during our session together During your stay in the Pyrenees, I propose to join you to guide you through a gentle Hatha yoga session, focused on grounding, flexibility, and calm. This is a practice accessible to all, which is both physical and meditative, where we take the time to breathe between movements, perfect for reconnecting the body and mind. The session will end with a super cozy relaxation, a comforting moment for you to recenter and integrate the benefits of the day. My wish is for you to leave with the feeling of having taken real time for yourself—a moment of calm, gentleness, and self-presence... something to take with you long after your stay. 🌿

Sophie

Our Original Guide / Singing Teacher

Quand le corps chante (When the body sings): an original and creative voice and body singing school in Oloron Sainte Marie. Hello, my name is Sophie Sérougne, and for 25 years I have been sharing the voice, French songs, and melodies from around the world. Passionate about languages, hospitality, the beauty of nature, and Heritage, I was first a guide-interpreter for several years in the southwest of France, in Dordogne and Lot et Garonne. I had already been a singer on stage since the age of twenty and a soloist in a Gospel choir. Singing gradually became an obvious path, and I decided in 1998 to undergo professional training in Bordeaux. I sang on stage for ten years while developing my own voice pedagogy because I greatly enjoy teaching. I thus created a mixed choir in Oloron, and led workshops, retreats, and trips, particularly in Spain. I specialized in an original and playful coaching style following the Natural Voice movement, created in the United Kingdom by Frankie Armstrong. Every person, singer or non-singer, is welcomed and invited to find or rediscover their voice, starting with the body as the instrument. Games, simple and deep warm-ups, and polyphonic songs form the basis of these group practices. I also completed training in Sound Yoga to better understand the relationship between the voice, sound, and the body. Today, I coach all types of people, from beginners to more experienced singers, to play, sing, and rediscover the joy of singing on stage, with friends, or in their bathroom! What I will offer you during your visit to the Pyrenees: I will take you on a discovery of the town of Oloron Sainte Marie and its two-thousand-year-old history from an original angle. We will walk together through its historic districts to discover its traditional buildings, its atmosphere, its gaves (that’s the name for rivers in the Pyrenees!), its traditions, and its economy. Our walk will be punctuated by a few unusual moments, surprise encounters for the eyes or the taste buds! And, of course, a few French melodies that we will share together... It will be a time of joyful discovery in the heart of a small town where nature and industries coexist, in this little Béarnese capital of the Aspe, Ossau, Barétous, and Josbaig valleys, where life is good, following the rhythm of the seasons, songs, and traditions.

Elodie

🌿 Élodie — Gatherer of Beauty and Creator of Softness

Hello! My name is Élodie Labarrère, I am the founder of Verdurette & Cie, nestled on the hillsides of the Oloron foothills, at the entrance to the Aspe Valley. It is here, between mountains and valleys, that I chose to cultivate my passion for medicinal and aromatic plants, flowers, and their thousand virtues. After several years spent in the agricultural world, I felt the need to return to the essential: working the land, observing nature, and reviving ancient knowledge. Thus, my garden was born, a lively and generous place, where more than sixty varieties of plants grow—thyme, mint, yarrow, chamomile, lavender, elderflower...—all cultivated with respect and love, according to the principles of organic farming. Over the seasons, I started by creating herbal teas, aromatic blends, and wild harvests. Then, little by little, the flowers inspired other desires in me: I developed an activity as a creator of objects and jewellery made from dried flowers, delicate and poetic pieces that celebrate nature and its simple beauty. 🌸 At Verdurette & Cie, everything is done by hand, from seeding to picking, from drying to creation. It’s a little world where nature inspires every gesture... and every smile. 🌼 What I will offer you during your stay in the Pyrenees: Hello everyone 🌿 I am delighted to welcome you to the Ferme de Verdurette, my little piece of paradise where herbs and flowers live to the rhythm of the wind and the seasons. We will start with a walk in the garden to discover the aromatic, medicinal, and floral plants that I cultivate: their scents, their colours, their virtues... I will also tell you how I sow them, pamper them, and transform them into herbal teas or creations. Then, we'll move on to floral creation! I will guide you step-by-step to make your own dried flower wreath—an object that is simple, elegant, and full of meaning. You will leave with your own creation, to hang up, to give as a gift, or to keep as a gentle souvenir of your stay. 🌾 This is a moment to breathe, share, let your hands do the talking... and feel all the beauty that nature offers us, when we take the time to look at it.

Cédric

The farmer-shepherd

The Ferme Récébire, a Treasure of Haut-Béarn Nestled in the valleys of Issor, in the heart of Haut-Béarn, the Ferme Récébire has been perpetuating a pastoral tradition proudly rooted in the Pyrenees for four generations. Here, everything is done by hand and with heart: from raising the sheep, cows, and goats, to milking, to the cheese making and aging, and the processing of meat into cured meats and homemade specialities. The mother, Annie, her son Cédric, and his associate Bastien form a close-knit team that blends family heritage with sustainable farming, respectful of the animals and the seasons. Their cheese, aged on-site and sold directly at the farm, reflects the mountain, the pastures, and the ancestral know-how—a taste of authenticity, a taste of this place. A Meeting at the Farm "Hello everyone! I am Cédric, a farmer-shepherd, and I will have the pleasure of welcoming you to our Ferme Récébire to share a little of our life here, between mountain and tradition. Together, we will go see the sheep, the goats, the cows, and discover their personalities and habits. You will also witness the cheese-making process, thanks to know-how passed down in the family for four generations. We will also talk about what our profession represents today: living to the rhythm of the seasons, moving to the high-altitude summer pastures for 3 months each summer, respecting nature, and making good products with simplicity and passion. And of course, we will end this visit with a convivial moment over a tasting of our cheeses, accompanied by homemade cured meats and a glass of Jurançon, the golden wine of Béarn. I hope this encounter will give you a taste for the mountains, for sharing... and for good cheese!"
